Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to the hazard(s) of being crushed:
(a)  Demolition site of old Highway 17 bridge, northeast area of the
yard  -  An employee was riding on the side of the operator's cab
on the  JOHN DEERE  front end loader  (Model 544-E, Serial Number
DW544EB527791), on or about 2/28/92.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD
TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS:
Strict enforcement of a policy prohibiting employees from riding
construction equipment that is not designed for carrying
passengers.
