Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads and/or lift parts: (a)Shop Area - Employees use an electric lift to elevate automobiles. The safety arm is busted on the left side of the lift, thus exposing employees to injury from being struck by falling loads and/or lift parts. (b)Shop Area - Employees use hydraulic lifts to elevate automobiles. The safety locks are not working on the lifts, thus exposing employees to injury from being struck by falling loads and/or lift parts. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PROVIDE A SAFETY ARM ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ELECTRIC LIFT AND HAVE SAFETY LOCKS SERVICES SO THAT THEY ARE IN AN OPERABLE CONDITION."
