Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to broken bones: (a) Rotocast Area - The sling used in conjunction with the jib hoist at the Model 2000 rotocast was not manufactured of steel alloy grade material. This sling had a variety of links and monkey links. The sling had many twisted links and many were showing signs of overload and/or shock loading, on or about August 16, 1993. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PURCHASE A STEEL ALLOY CHAIN SLING DESIGNED TO BE USED FOR LIFTING.
