Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to broken bones and concussions: (a) Free Methodist Church, Science Park Road and Circleville Road, State College, Pennsylvania - The trusses that collapsed were not provided with temporary bracing as required by the Truss Plate Institute - there was insufficient longitudinal and lateral bracing ("X" and"W" bracing) which contributed to the collapse of the trusses, on or about November 8, 1993. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS FOR THE CONTRACTOR TO FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED PRACTICE OF INSTALLING THE TEMPORARY BRACING AS REQUIRED BY THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE..."
