Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of coming in contact with moving parts. A Rigid model 300 pipe threading machine was not equipped with a momentary contact control device (American National Standards Institute B208.1-1982,section 4.4). a)Jobsite - Employees who performed pipe threading were exposed to contacting, and being caught by, unstoppable rotating machine parts of a cord and plug connected Rigid model 300 pipe threading machine (s/n 7605595) which was not equipped with a momentary contact device for controlling the machine motor. On or before 7/5/94. ABATEMENT NOTE Among others, a feasible method to eliminate or to materially reduce this hazard is to comply with ANSI B208.1-1982, section 4.4 and provide a momentary contact device to control power input to the machine.
