Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:  the hazard of a fall of approximately 18 feet to concrete
floor or plant equipment below.
a)  Aluminum Shapes, Inc. Building 8 North - employee(s)
in the process of welding brackets onto an I-beam  (part
of a billet loading system for an extrusion press operation)
while straddling the beam, were not utilizing fall
protection.  Among other methods, one feasible and
acceptable method of abatement is to enforce the use of
safety belts and lifelines or the equivalent.  On or about
