Where employees were exposed to Formic Acid while manually tipping and
pouring the
chemical in order to empty out any remaining Formic Acid in the drum.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard may
include, but are not limited to providing an appropriate size hand pump
which reaches to the
bottom of a drum, the use of an inclinator or the use of an automatic
system which would dilute
the concentrated Formic Acid and deliver it directly into the tanning
drum.
