Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of: a)In the plant area - Employees operating fork lift trucks were not wearing safety belts, on or about 2/10/97. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is: Have seat belts installed on fork lifts that do not have them and require employees to use the seat belts whenever they are operating industrial lift trucks.
