P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of: A- 15th. Avenue & 3rd. Street, Cordele, GA., construction site - Roof trusses that were not adequately braced to prevent the trusses from collapsing, and trusses were not properly hoisted with an approved spread beam, exposing employees installing the trusses to falls from elevations or being struck by the falling trusses, on or about 05/08/2001. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install the trusses in accordance with the recommendations of the Truss Plate Institute contained in HIB-91, and the architect and truss manufacturer recommendations.
