Section 201 of the Executive Order 12196 of 1980: The employer did not furnish employees places and conditions of employment that were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)In the Trinity Alps Wilderness of the Klamath National Forest, the employer failed to ensure that employees took to the back country and knew how to use communication devices, exposing employees to the hazards of not receiving prompt medical treatment during medical emergencies. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure employees take communication devices to the back country as required in Chapter 10 of the US Forest Service's Health and Safety Code Handbook and ensure employees know how to use the communication devices.
