Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The

employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
required to work under a damaged roof up to four hours while stacking
wood pallets/cardboard under the damaged roof section:
a)  Bercon Packaging, Reselect Area - employees were
exposed to hazards associated with a collapsing roof
for up to four hours while stacking wood pallets/
cardboard under the wood truss supports and the main
roof (on or about March 15, 1993), March 16, 1993.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE
METHOD OF ABATEMENT TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO
SET HEAVY WOOD COLUMNS (OR THE EQUIVALENT) WHILE UNDER
A PART OF THE ROOF THAT IS SECURE, AND WORK INWARD
PROTECTING EMPLOYEES WHILE THE ROOF AND WOOD TRUSSES
ARE SECURED.
