Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from elevated platforms: (a) At the Dorsett Carpet Mill jobsite - Employees were riding in a yarn basket that was not firmly and positively secured to the forks of the forklift. They were working from the basket at a height of approximately 12 feet above the floor. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use one of the platforms specially constructed for this purpose that was available on the site.
