Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of
1970: The employer did not furnish employement and a place of
employment which was free from recognized hazards which were
likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were exposed to fall hazards of 17 feet while in
the process of setting trusses.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method
to correct this hazardous condition would be to equip employees
with safety belts and lanyards so they could tie off to prevent
possible falls.
