Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of falling from heights of 20 up to 31 feet in that on or about 8/14/95: As the controlling contractor David Williams Homes did not ensure that their subcontractor employees installed wooden trusses with adequate bracing to provide proper structural integrity while standing on such trusses at 22554 Treetop Lane residence under construction, Golden, Colorado. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct the hazard is: 1. Install an adequate number of braces at designated locations as directed in the Truss Plate Institute Publication BWT-76, Bracing Wood Trusses: Commentary and Recommendations, DSB-89, Recommended Design Specification for: Temporary Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses, and HIB-91, Summary sheet: Commentary and Recommendations as supplied by the manufacturer.
