Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to: (a) Fall hazards in the extrusion department during adjustments below extruders while working from a platform at a height of 17 feet. Among other methods, several feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard include: 1. Use safety belt and lanyard while making the adjustment. 2. Install a scaffold or catwalk with guardrails below the platform.

Among other methods, several feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard include: 1. Use of chain or other device to secure pallet to fork. 2. Use of scissors lift to raise and lower employees.
