Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of flammable gas explosion resulting from the leakage of propane from a cylinder located inside a confined space: (a) Establishment: On or about 1/26/94, 100 lb. propane cylinders were placed inside tractor trailers. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to locate propane cylinders outside of the trailers, in compliance with 1992 NFPA National Fire Code, Part 58, Section 38, LPGas Systems on Vehicles (Other Than Engine Fuel Systems).
