Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to contact with hydrogen flouride and nitric acid solution: (a) Clean Room: The procedure for stress relief did not prevent employees from bumping into each other and spilling or splashing the solution on unprotected employees. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to keep the chemical container in the rear bay heating unit.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to metal surfaces with temperatures as high as 220 degrees c.: (a) Clean Room: The hot plates were not guarded to prevent employees from contacting the hot surfaces. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to guard the hot plates with a heat resistant cover.
