General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees loading parcels and packages on to trailers using a roller conveyor system were exposed to the hazard of a falling overhead door that was propped open with two 2 X 4s as the torsion spring on one of the doors was broken. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to have the defective part (broken spring) repaired or replaced to bring the door into compliance with the requirements and specifications established by American National Standard Institute and National Association of Garage Door Manufacturers for Sectional Over- Head Type Doors, "ANSI/NAGDM 102-1988" Section 9.3
