Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an approximate fall hazard of 120 feet to the ground below: (a) Campbellsville construction project, located at White Clay Presbyterian Church, Polly Drummond Hill Road & Kirkwood Highway, Newark DE 19711 - an employee installing a cross on top of a sixty-five foot high steeple, was sitting in a boatswain chair suspended from a Grove crane. The use of a crane or derrick to hoist employees on a boatswain's chair is prohibited. Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use equipment, such as, but not limited to, an approved personnel hoist, ladder, stairway, aerial lift, elevating work platform or scaffold.
