Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the
hazard of electric shock.
(a) Near the Egg Storage Room; the ground prong was missing from the plug
of a Milwaukee 7 1/4 inch circular saw, operating at 110 volts AC;
(b) Egg Packing Room, which is a damp location;  the wire insulation was
frayed and the ground prong was missing from the plug of a Dayton
circulating fan, operating at 110 volts Ac;
(c) Egg Packing Room near the conveyor belt, which is a damp location;
the
door to the switch panel for the egg packing machines and conveyor would
not
stay closed, exposing employees to live electrical parts of at least 110
volts AC.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to replace the defective wiring and plugs, and to repair the
electrical panel

falls
from heights of over four (4) feet to the ground.
(a) Open-sided platforms outside of each of the three (3) laying houses;
employees stand at the edge of the open-sided platforms to toss dead
chickens into wheel barrows.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to install standard guardrails on each platform.

injury from unguarded chains and sprockets.
(a) Egg Packing Room, at the Diamond Egg Packer with a Choretime conveyor;
a female employee who had long hair and who wore loose fitting clothe was
exposed to the hazard of becoming entangled in unguarded chains and
sprockets.
(b) Laying Houses, at the end of Big Dutchman feed conveyors; employees
who
must pass through an 18" - 22" space between feed conveyor drive units are
exposed to the hazard of having their clothing entangled in unguarded
chains
and sprockets.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to install guards which will enclose the chain and sprocket
drive
