Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falls from elevations: (a) Northeast corner of the 42nd floor where employees were walking along a 2 foot, 8 inch wide roof area 512 feet above ground level on the north side and at the roof edge 30 feet above an adjacent roof on the east side, with no fall protection, on or about 5/14/92. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the utilization of safety belts, lanyards and lifelines.
