Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling loads: ROOF OF BUILDING #274: A NYLON HOISTING STRAP, BEING USED TO HOIST A WOOD PALLET OF SHEET METAL CURB RAILS,TO THE ROOF OF BLDG. #274, WAS NOT PROTECTED FROM RUBBING ON THE SHARP EDGES OF THE CURB RAILS. FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD INCLUDE USING SOFTENERS ON THE SHARP EDGES OF THE CURB RAILS AND DOING A PRE- JOB SURVEY TO DETERMINE APPROPRATE EQUIPMENT FOR LIFTING AND HOISTING.
