Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of falling trees and/or tree limbs: DRIVEWAY, NEAR WOOD CHIPPER: EMPLOYEES WERE ALLOWED TO WORK IN AREA(S) WHICH WERE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO TREE FELLING OPERATIONS. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD OF ABATEMENT IS TO KEEP THE DISTANCE BETWEEN ADJACENT OCCUPIED WORK AREAS AT LEAST TWO TREE LENGTHS FROM THE TREES BEING FELLED.
