General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of falling from a catenary scaffold: a) Bridge: Employe was not wearing a fall-protection device attached to a structural member other than the scaffold, a lifeline, or a secured horizontal wire rope while abrasive blasting or painting from catenary scaffold platforms, on or about July 13, 1992, July 15, 1992 and August 19, 1992. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: have each worker wear a fall-protection device secured to a secured horizontal wire rope or structural member other than the scaffold as stipulated by American National Standards Institute.
