Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a)At the worksite - An employee was repairing a sign while kneeling on a 2 foot 4 inch by 4 foot platform on top of a Genie Superlift Contractor materials lift. The employee was exposed to falling approximately 15 feet to a concrete sidewalk below, on or about April 16, 1999. ABATEMENT NOTE: One method to eliminate or materially reduce this hazard would be to not to use this material lift as a work platform as detailed in Genie SUPERLIFT Contractor Operator's Manual, Part No. 33547.,
