Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Storage Area - On 2/2/90 - Two employees used two hydraulic pallet jacks s/n 8604 and model number P.T. 2748 to move switch gear cabinet measuring 8ft. in height, 7 1/2ft. in length, 2ft wide and 6000 lbs. in weight. The employees used inappropriate material, handling equipment when moving these cabinets. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide suitable mechanical handling equipment to maintain the stability when moving the load such as, a dynalift.
