Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. %% The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being infected with tuberculosis. (a)Veterans Administration Medical Center, Building 200, Unit 43. Three employees with the job title of nurse were exposed to the hazard of being infected with tuberculosis through contact with patients who were or may be infected with tuberculosis in that: nurses enter respiratory isolation rooms several times during the day and are not mantoux skin tested (PPD) semi-annually (every six months). Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, among others are: mantoux skin testing semi-annually (every six months). On or about
