Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by an ejected die block: a) Assembly and Press areas, power presses: press operators and setup employees who change dies and utilize die blocks were exposed to hazard of die block ejection from the bed of a power press. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement is to electrically interlock the die blocks to prohibit initiation of a press stroke with the die block in the press. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIREDATION
