Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees who were exposed to hazards created by conveyors, were not furnished with emergency stop devices. a) Cannery, Branded Lable area, A-1 Shuttleworth 4 pack C line, No. 5 incline conveyor, side opposite the operator side: a mechanic who had his left arm caught by ingoing nip points created by the underside of the incline conveyor belt and drive and idler shafts was not furnished with a emergency stop device to stop the conveyor, on or about March 6 2000. Among other methods, one feasible and accepted method is to furnish an emergency stop device in hazardous locations. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
