Section 5 (a) (1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
%%
employer did nto furnish employement and a place of employemtn which were
free from recognized hazards taht were causing or likely to cuase death or
serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
(a) On or about April 30, 1991, the employer had not developed a
Hepatitis B vaccination program and made the Hepatitis B vaccination
available to employees at substantial risk of direct exposure to blood
and other potentially infectious materials.
Feasible Abatment Methods for reducing this hazard include:
1.  Establishment of a Hepatitis B vaccination policy which addresses all
circumstances warranting such vaccinations and identifies all employees at
substantial risk of directly contacting blood and other potentially infect-
ious materials and offers all such employees Hepatitis B vaccinations in
amounts and at times prescribed by standard medical pratice.

2.   Establishment of a training policy and program for employees which
includes:
a.   Education on Epidemiology, modes of transmission, and prevention
of HIV/HBV.
b.  Counseling regardingpotential risks to the fetus formHIV/HBV and
other associated infectious agents.
c.   Training regarding Centers ofr Disease Control Guidelines concern -
ing "Universal Precautions" as it applies to their workplace, and
specifies procedures for workpractices e.g. cleaning and disinfec -
tion of vehicles, equipment and use of personal protective
equipment and potential hazards which maybe encountered at
hospitals, homes, medical examiners office, accident sites, etc..
d.   Training  about Hepatitis B vaccination program and procedures to
followed and provided if they are exposed to a needle stick or
other direct contact with blood or other potentially infectious
material.
