Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Falls: located at St. Wendelin Church in Fostoria, Ohio, there were three (3) employees on the roof at the north end and west. L side. side. The employees were installing wood sheeting on the roof. The roof had a 5 inch on 12 inch pitch. The eave was 16 feet to the ground. There was no motion stopping safety system in use that would prevent employees from falling to the ground. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: (a) install guardrails, (b) use catch platforms.
