for defects.  This task requires various ergonomic stresses
such as, but not limited to frequent pinch grips with wrist
deviation and finger force, inadequate seating and repeated
lifting of the arm which are likely to result in cumulative
trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct these hazards are:
1)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal activity.
2)  Educate employees in body mechanics.
3)  Realign testing equipment to eliminate wrist deviation.
4)  Automate this process.
5)  Provide adjustable work station.
6)  Provide fully adjustable ergonomically correct seating.
b)  Pre Tech, Lifting Trays:  Employees lift and move trays
of resistors.  This task requires various ergonomic stresses
such as, but not limited to frequent and awkward lifting which
are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Provide lift device.
2)  Position shelves to eliminate stretching and bending to
load trays.
c)  Pre Tech, Molding:  Employees mold resistors.  This task
requires various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited
to, repeated and excesive reaches, pinch grips with finger
force and deviation of the wrist and extended periods of
standing which are likely to result in cumulative trauma
disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal activity.
2)  Rearrange work station to minimize reaches.
3)  Provide ergonomically designed tools.
4)  Maintain forceps in proper working condition.
5)  Modify work area to include lift device.
6)  Provide anti-fatigue mats, sit/stand stools; or foot
rests.
7)  Provide adjustable work stations.
d)  Tan Film, PFC, Dicing:  Employees monitor, adjust hand
knobs and activate buttons to allow the machine to perform the
operations.  This task requires various ergonomic stresses
such as, but not limited to, standing for extended periods and
use of excessive force with thumbs which are likely to result
in cumulative trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Adjust control panel to reduce force required for
activation.

2)  Instruct employees on the proper usage of the machine.
3)  Provide sit/stand stools or foot rests.
e)  Tan Film, Jade Bonding:  Employee places a wafer into a
jig and then places a band device over top of the wafer.  This
task requires various ergonomic stresses such as but not
limited to, repeated pinch grips and twisting of the torso which
are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorder.
Among other methods, some feasible and exceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Redesign of work station to eliminate abducting the elbow
and provide adjustability.
2)  Provide ergonomic tools.
3)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
muscloskeletal acitivity.
f)  Tan Film, Lidding:  Employees places a strip of material
onto a band with forcep.  This task requires ergonomic
stresses
such as but not limited to, repeated pinch grip with
finger force, abduction of arms, repeated lifts which are
likely to result in cumulative trauma disorder.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal activity.
2)  Provide ergonomically designed tool.
3)  Round off or pad the edges of the work surface.
4)  Redesign the work station to eliminate repeated
lifting of the arm.
g)  PFC, Loading:  Employees place small parts into a
plastic sheet using forceps.  This task requires various
ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, frequent pinch
grips often with wrist deviation and forceful finger force
which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders.
Among other methods to correct this hazard are:
1)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal activity.
2)  Educate employees on body mechanics
3)  Automate this process.
4)  Provide ergonomically designed tools.
h)  Tan Film, Pre Punch:  Employees place material on punch
and activate a two hand control.  This task requires various
ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, frequent
lifting of both arms with elbow abducted, reaching with arms,
contact trauma and repeated deviations of the wrist which are
likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal activity.
2)  Lower position of the press.
3)  Decrease the distance (width) and rearrange the position
of the controls between activation controls.
4)  Automate this process.
5)  Round off or pad the edges of the work surface.
i)  Tan Film, Reading/Testing:  Employees test electronic
parts for defects.  This task requires various ergonomic
stresses such as but not limited to,  frequent pinch grips,
head movements, and repeated thumb activation which are likely
to cause cumulative trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct these hazards are:
1)  Job rotation which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal
activity.
2)  Educate employees in body mechanics.
3)  Provide tools that eliminate the use of the pinch grip.
4)  Reduce the force needed with current probes.
5)  Provide work stations or chairs with forearm support.
6)  Provide fully adjustable ergonomically correct seating.
7)  Redesign lever to reduce thumb repetitions and distance
traveled.
j)  Tan Film, Solder Station:  Employees grip electronic
components with hand held device and dip into solder bath.
This task requires various ergonomic stresses such as but not
limited to, frequent use of extended hand grasp, repetitive
extended pinch grips to hold the components for dipping which
are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Instruct employee in the proper use of tools.
2)  Provide ergonomically designed tool.
3)  Redesign work station to eliminate elevation and abduction
of arm during operation.
k)  Tan Film, Traying and Detraying in Burn-In Lab:
Employees
move components from a tray and place in boxes or trays
This task requires various ergonomic stresses such as, but not
limited to frequent and forceful pinch grips, and abduction of
the elbows which are likely to result in cumulative trauma
disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to
correct this hazard are:
1)  Redesign the clamping unit.
2)  Provide ergonomically designed tools.
3)  Provide an adjustable work station.
l)  Tan Film, Trimming and Bending:  Employee performs
bending operation by placing band of material on a press and
activating the press to bend the legs on a multipin component.
This task requires ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited
to, frequent lifting of both arms, finger force with severe
deviation of wrist which are likely to result in cumulative
trauma disorders.
Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods
to correct this hazard are:
1)  Job rotation schedule which allows for variations in
musculoskeletal activity.
2)  Lower the position of the press.
3)  Automate this process.
4)  Replace thumb nuts with an actuator lever.
m)  Tan Film, Loading Hemostats:  Employees place small
components (CCN's) to be soldered into hemostat and secure
the handle clamp together locking the component into place.
This task requires various ergonomic stresses such as, but
not limited to, frequent and forceful pinch grips and contact
trauma which are likely to result in cumulative trauma
disorder.
