Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a) Job site, Cargill Facility in New Madrid, MO; the crane operator on a
Manitex Boom
Mounted Truck Crane, m/n 30100, s/n 34947, was involved in an incident
where the
crane tipped over on May 16, 2005.  The incident was caused by the
operator's
miscalculation of information regarding the lifted load weight and the
crane's working
capacity.  This miscalulation was caused, in part, by the operator's lack
of adequate
training.
One method of abatement to correct this apparent hazard is to train and
certify all crane
operators per A.N.S.I. standard B30.5, Qualifications for Operators,
section
5-3
Operations.
