Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by falling loads due to improper rigging techniques: a) On or about January 16, 2003 and at times prior, Innerworks Plus did not ensure that employees on site were protected from struck by hazards. Employees using a crane to handle heavy framing members were exposed to struck by hazards due to the improper rigging techniques being used to connect the load to the sling. Among other methods of abatement: A training program dealing with rigging procedures and techniques would abate the problem. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").
