Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard at the thirty foot level when working from the platform of a boom supported elevating work platform without fall protection. (a)South Side of New School - Two (2) employees were observed working approximately thirty (30) feet above the ground from a JLG lift and were not wearing personal fall arrest systems, on or about September 4, 2003. VERIFICATION REQUIRED Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard includes using a personal fall arrest system, with the lanyard attached to the boom or basket of the personnel lift, as outlined in the American National Standards Institute safety standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms (ANSI/SIA A92.5-1992)
