Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing/amputation hazard from direct contact with a moving conveyor belt and idlers: (a) Plant #3, Slit and Finish Department - A slitter operator employee loading rolls onto a HYTROL- Jonesboro conveyor belt without an emergency stop cord exposing himself to finger/hand injuries, on or about April 22, 1992. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install an emergency stop cord along the center of the two (2) conveyor belts.
