Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads and/or lift parts: (a)Repair Bays - One (1) single post and two (2) double post automotive lifts had inoperable automatic safety latches, on or about March 18, 2003. VERIFICATION REQUIRED Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure the automatic mechanical device to hold the lift in the fully extended position is free of dirt and corrosion and is operable at all times.
