Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to debris being dumped from the upper floors and roof:
SITE:  Workers were exposed to the hazards from falling debris and trash
from the upper floors
while walking in close proximity of the trash dumpster in order to use
the only bathroom and
telephone onsite and were not provided with a suitable means of
protection from the falling
debris/trash.
Among others, some feasible and acceptable methods of correcting this
hazard would be to;
1- Move the dumpster farther away from the doorway, and/or
2- Create an enclosed walkway to and from the doorway that would protect
workers from the
falling debris/trash.
