Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while operating the manually operated manlift in the sunflower elevator which was not provided with guardrails on all sides of the manlift car. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install a complete car enclosure. (b) Employees were exposed to a potential crushing hazard while working near the manually operated manlift in the sunflower elevator due to the lack of guardrails around the base of the manlift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install guardrails with a gate around the base of the manlift. (c) Employees were exposed to a potential falling hazard while operating the manually operated manlift in the north elevator due to the frayed lift rope near the top of the manlift. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard would be to replace the rope. (d) Employees were exposed to a potential hazard while operating the manlift in the north unit due to the cracked braking rail on the spout floor level. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to replace the section of rail.on

Section (5)(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential hazard of rollover and impact hazards while pulling railcars with an International tractor and the use of a steel chain. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to change the method of moving cars by pushing rather than pulling or by the use of a secondary chain connected to the front of the tractor to totally secure the railcar while it is being moved.
