Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential crushing hazard while working near the base of the manually operated manlift due to the lack of a guardrail around the base. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard would be to install guardrails around the base of the manlift. (b) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while operating the manually operated manlift due to the lack of a car enclosure on the manlift. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard would be to install a complete enclosure on the manlift.e
