Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a) Employees were exposed to a potential fall hazard while operating the manually operated manlift due to the lack of a car enclosure on the manlift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this fall hazard would be to install a complete car enclosure on the manlift. (b) Employees were exposed to a crushing hazard while working near the base of the manually operated manlift due to the lack of guardrails around the base. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this crushing hazard would be to install a guardrail around the base of the manlift.l
