were exposed to:
(a) Location - Chemical storage room:
On or about 9/17/98, employees were exposed to the hazard of a potential
violent
chemical reaction from storage of incompatible chemicals in the same area.
At least 3
gallons of ammonium hydroxide (Fisher certified ACS plus brand) were
stored in the
same cabinet as at least 2 gallons of 49hydrofluoric acid (Fisher
Reagent A.C.S.
brand).  Mixture of these two chemicals would cause a violent chemical
reaction.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to segregate incompatible chemicals into separate storage
cabinets.
