Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a) Location - Outside the Body Shop: On or about 7/13/99, an Ingersoll-Rand air compressor located on aisle outside this shop and where cars are driven and parked daily, was not guarded to protect against physical damage, exposing the employees to an explosion hazard. (b) Location - At the entrance of Mechanic Shop: On or about 7/13/99, an Ingersoll-Rand air compressor located at the entrance of this shop and where cars are driven daily, was not guarded to protect against physical damage, exposing the employees to an explosion hazard. Among other methods, feasible means of abatement methods include: (1) To install a metal guard rail system similar to the one employer had installed around other air compressors in the plant.
