Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling: (a) Location - Building exterior, 6 Chickering Road, Lawrence, MA: On or about 12/14/99, an employee was exposed to a serious fall hazard of 34 feet while climbing over the guard rails of the JLG Scissors Lift onto the upper roof, and having the access mid rail chain unlatched. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard include but are not limited to: a. Read and follow operators manual guide lines for safe use.
