Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling: (a) Location - 100 Tech Square, Cambridge, MA: On or about 8/6/02, employees were exposed to a serious fall hazard of 19 feet while climbing over the guard rails of the Shaughnessy and Skyjacket Scissor Lifts onto the lower entrance roof. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to: (a) Read and follow operations manual guide lines for safe use. (b) Utilize the gate provided within the guard rail system.
