Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by an aerial lift collapsing: (a) Location - Jobsite, 50 Foundation Avenue, Haverhill, MA: On 1/27/04, employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by an aerial lift collapsing when three employees were riding the basket of the articulating boom. Among other methods feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to: 1. Read and follow the manufacturer's literature regarding the number of persons and weight limitations within the basket of the articulating boom. 2. Read and follow the manufacturer's literature regarding use of the lift and the position of the employees.
