Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a)Volvo Construction Equipment, 312 Volvo Way, Shippensburg, PA - An employee of Volvo Construction Equipment was working from inside an elevated scissor lift platform when the employee stood on the railing and exited the elevated platform to gain access onto a racking system, thus exposing the employee to a fall hazard, on or about May 14, 2008. VERIFICATION REQUIRED Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard is to comply with the equipment manufacturer's instructions and/or ANSI/SIA (Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms) Standard A92.6 - 2006. This includes complying with all warning signs and instructions listed on the work platform.
