Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious crush injuries and/or broken bones to employees not wearing seatbelts when operating powered industrial trucks, which may result in the event of a forklift accident: At the worksite, Warehouse: On 7/30/99, CSHO observed 2 employees operating a powered industrial truck without wearing attached seatbelts. This may result in serious crush injuries and/or broken bones resulting from forklift accidents. Two feasible means of abatement would be to enforce a disciplinary program and/or install an interlock switch to the starter.k
