Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being caught in conveyor belts: Blancher - Employees were exposed to being caught in conveyor belts in the blancher because there were no emergency stop devices in accordance with the applicable requirements of Section 5.11.2 (c) General Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment, ASME/ANSI B20.1-1987. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE MEANS OF ABATEMENT TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: to install pull cords or trips wires which are accessible along the full length of the conveyor.
