Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling: a) On or about 8/06/02 at the new Home Depot Store in Olean, NY., two (2) employees were observed stradling the guardrail system on the Scissors lift thereby exposing them to falls of approximately twenty (20) ffet to the ground below. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO HAVE ALL EMPLOYEES MAINTAIN FIRM FOOTING WITH THE FLOOR OF THE PLATFORM AS SPECIFIED BY ANSI/SIA A92.6-1999, SECTION 8.10 # 9. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIREDATION

AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO NOT EXCEED THE RATED CAPACITY OF THE PLATFORM AS SPECIFIED BY ANSI/SIA A92.6-1999, SECTION 8.10 # 15. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS FOR THE EMPLOYER TO CONDUCT TRAINING ON THE SAFE USE OF THE SCISSORS LIFT AS SPECIFIED BY ANSI/SIA A92.6-1999, SECTION 8.5. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
